![]() If we visit Valletta again we would have no hesitation in returning to The St. The staff were, without exception, delightful with nothing too much trouble. it is within easy walking distance of the historic buildings, restaurants and bars. Despite the criticisms above, the hotel is lovely and in a great location,i.e. It was also very cold in the evening as the manager left the door open to attract custom - OK in summer but not in May. The Cheeky Monkey was OK although a little cramped at times as it's quite small but the food & drink were good. As mentioned by other reviewers the lighting system took a little while to master. the only gripes were that the shower pan leaked onto the bathroom floor, the silicone in the shower looked in need of replacement, the water didn't drain away very well and the water temperature fluctuated, getting extremely hot at times without warning. The hotel's website could be improved by containing more information about the hotel facilities, etc.The room was very clean & well serviced with fresh fluffy towels, etc. The room had an air-conditioner but it was a bit complicated and appeared to have a mind of it's own at times - only a minor niggle though. A mirror over the desk would have been useful for hairdrying. The room had a very large comfortable bed. We didn't experience any noise from outside. My wife and I stayed in a Superior room on the 5th floor (504), a spacious contemporary styled room with a balcony looking towards the sea. Overall would definitely stay again and would highly recommend for short stays as has a perfect location and facilities for shorter stays. Just on from here is a lovely marina called Portomaso which is a good place to hire boat charters and jet skis down at Rush water sports. Also from Sliema there are buses frequently to St Julian, which has a few nice bars. From Sliema you can get a boat cruise to Gozo and blue lagoon which I would highly recommend this cost €35 each which included a free bar onboard. ![]() A quick 10 minute walk took you to a ferry that connects you with Sliema which cost €1.50 for a single. ![]() Location was perfect as its a street away from all the shops and in the heart of valletta, which means no need for taxis or bus’s and also meant we had variety of choice for evening meals. The only slight niggle was that cheeky monkey got a little cramped at 9am with everyone in there but good variety of cheese/ham, yoghurts and pastries and followed by a cooked breakfast served to you which was lovely. Breakfast at cheeky monkey was well presented and good quality produce was used. On arrival our cases taken to the room and we were shown how everything worked. on arrival the staff were all so welcoming and friendly with prosecco on arrival and a very warm and friendly welcome. We contacted the hotel before our stay and they arranged a chauffeur to meet us at the airport and take us to the hotel for around €21. We stayed here for 3 nights and what a pleasant stay we had.
